The world renowned Tommy Dorsey Orchestra presents a special concert
performing the music that made this ensemble famous the world over.
Buddy Morrow, an internationally known band leader of his own
orchestra, leads these outstanding musicians in a concert you will
never forget. Buddy Morrow is one of the all-time great trombone
players who was a featured performer with the great bands of the Big
Band era. Buddy insists that the band retain the authentic sound and
style of the late Tommy Dorsey and still have the elasticity to meet
every musical situation. You will hear the original Dorsey classics as
well as popular music from Dixieland and rhythm and blues. The Tommy
Dorsey Orchestra led by Buddy Morrow represents explosive and swinging
Big Band entertainment at its best.

Movie – That's Dancing

Narration by Mikail Baryshnikov, Ray Bolger, Sammy Davis Jr., Gene

A documentary film about dancing on the screen. Drawing from the MGM
archives as well as those of other studios, the film debuts the uncut
version of Bolger's "If I Only Had a Brain" number from The Wizard of
Oz and includes a slew of other famous dance routines from films such
as 42nd Street, Oklahoma, Flashdance, Saturday Night Fever and more.
No admission charge, but a free will offering will be appreciated.

Battle of the Bands with Bill Sears from Interlochen

The Battle of the Bands features three outstanding high school jazz
bands. The Elk Rapids jazz band is led by David McKeon, Kingsley jazz
band by Thomas Clair, and the Suttons Bay jazz band by Anne Morey.
Bill Sears, Interlochen's renowned Director of Jazz studies and
teacher of saxophone, will work with the bands during the afternoon.
The three jazz bands will perform separately on the evening program
and Bill Sears will join them as a featured saxophone soloist. You
will love being a part of the excitement and high energy that can only
come from our young high school musicians.

Northport Sportsman Club is holding their annual Smelt Dinner in the
Leelanau Township Fire Hall. For more information, contact Jack

A Multicultural Feast of Middle School Proportions
Come and join the seventh and eighth grade classes of Northport Public
School as they celebrate their community diversity with a dinner and
entertainment. Your participation in this event will support the
seventh and eighth grade field trip to Mackinaw City, Tahquamenon
Falls and Whitefish Point.
For tickets, contact any middle school student or Mrs. Wilson or Mr.
Stowe at 386-5153. Held in the School small gym, cost is $8 per
person.

The Kids Club Program at Northport Public School (grades K-3) is in
need of sports and miscellaneous equipment for the summer. If you
happen to be getting rid of the items listed below, please contact Kim
Tompkins at 386-9015 (home) or 386-5153 (school).
Wish List: bikes, helmets, roller blades, roller skates, tennis
rackets, badminton set, Frisbees, swim goggles, sturdy trucks,
buckets, shovels, sand toys, water sprinkler, baseball bats & gloves,
T-ball set, bases, hula-hoops, tents, hammers, and large outside
storage cabinet.

Walking Track
The walking track and exercise equipment at Northport Public School is
available for public use. One mile is equal to 14 times around the
track plus another 30 feet. To get to the track, enter the school
through the main front doors and turn right, proceeding to the first
hallway. Then turn left going to the second door on the right for the
stairway leading up to the track and exercise equipment. Use at your
own risk.
